Ridership Expectations

It is critical that students and parents understand that district transportation is an extension of the school day; the same behavioral expectations that exist in the classroom and other district events apply on district transportation as well. The student handbook section for Transportation is linked below, but is most easily followed by simply following the Lynx Way traits:

Respectful - Responsible - Safe - Kind - Active Learners

Inappropriate or hazardous conduct on transportation can result in the temporary or permanent suspension of transportation privileges for the student(s) involved.

Bus Ridership Safety and Conduct
    • When waiting for the bus, stay back away from the road until the bus has come to a complete stop before loading.
    • Exercise classroom appropriate behavior while riding the bus.
    • Stay in your seat at all times.
    • Wait for the bus to stop completely before getting up from your seat.
    • Follow instructions given by the driver.
    • No food or beverages are allowed on district transportation vehicles.
    • Students are recommended to be present at their assigned stop at least 5 minutes prior to the designated stop time to ensure the timeliness of the route. While stop times are provided, these can have minimal fluctuations due to outside factors such as traffic, construction and inclement weather.

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we work to deliver the best possible transportation experience for all BVSD students, families, and staff members.

The Lynx Way

Brandon Schools

The Brandon Valley School District utilizes our district-wide character program "The Lynx Way" to promote positive student behaviors and instill the fundamental traits we want in all students. Creating consistency and common language throughout our schools, supports positive behavior intervention systems, and promotes easier transitions between school buildings. We encourage all parents, guardians, and patrons to utilize the common language and engage with our kids on the importance of being respectful, responsible, safe, kind, and active learners.
