The Brandon Valley Fine Arts Hall of Fame recognizes and honors outstanding achievements of musicians and others who have made significant contributions to the arts and/or have promoted the growth of the arts programs within the Brandon Valley School District. At most, one inductee (individual or group) may be inducted per year. Those selected to the Hall of Fame are chosen by the Brandon Valley Hall of Fame Committee.

Ruthmary Jackson

Ruthmary Jackson came to the Brandon Valley School District in 1974. She was the face of the Brandon Valley High School Art Department for thirty years during which the department flourished. Ms. Jackson retired in 2004.

Carson Lee

Carson Lee, Brandon Valley High School Class of 2000, was active in Chorus, Drama and Oral Interpretation. He was a member of All State Chorus and was the lead in the first school musical held at the Performing Arts Center, "Bye Bye Birdie." Mr. Lee currently works in Minneapolis.

George Gulson

George Gulson joined the Brandon Valley School District staff in 1963. Gulson directed the school bands from 1963 - 1974. He served as the Middle School principal from 1974-94, becoming superintendent in 1994. He also was one of the driving forces behind the building of the Performing Arts Center.

Harold Versteeg

Harold Versteeg joined the Brandon School District staff in 1961. He served as vocal music director, guidance director and social studies teacher. With the merger of the Brandon and Valley Springs School Districts, Mr. Versteeg became the first vocal music director at BVHS. Mr. Versteeg passed away in 2002.

Becky Mohr (Swenson)

Becky Mohr (Swenson) graduated from Brandon Valley High SChool. Ms. Mohr currently is Reading Specialist at the Brandon Middle School. She has been a long-time assistant director of the middle school play and the talented and versatile accompanist for the Brandon Valley School musicals since 2001.

Zach Goheen

Zach Goheen is a 1999 graduate of Brandon Valley High School. In addition to performing in the BVHS Symphonic Band, Jazz 1, and Marching Lynx for four years, he was one of two students from South Dakota selected to perform in the Sousa National High School Honors Band in Washington, D.C. Mr. Goheen currently works as a recording engineer at Studio Chicago.

Margaret Robinson

Margaret Robinson's tenure at BVHS was marked by her innovative attitude toward the theater. She was an English teacher and was drama director beginning on the stage in the gymnasium. Her play productions gave students their first performance opportunities in theater.

Derek Hengeveld

Derek Hengeveld, a percussionist, was selected to All State Band in 1989 - 1992. Derek taught as a member of the SDSU Mechanical Engineering Department for six years. He is a member of the very popular group, Spooncat! He is still very active musically.

Myra and Arnie Wulf

Myra and Arnie Wulf have contributed and continue to contribute their time, efforts and resources to the Fine Arts activities here. They have established a band-chorus scholarship in honor of their son, Landon, who would have graduated in 2006, but was killed in a car accident at age 11.
