New Elementary School
Projections for 2009-2010
2009-2010
New Elementary School
It is projected that the new elementary school will open
with an approximate enrollment of 300-350 students. The school will most likely
be a 3-section school, with possibly the exception of 5th grade, as
many of those students may choose to continue to attend their current
attendance center.
Robert
Bennis Elementary (RBE) is expected to decrease to a 3-section school and
Brandon Elementary (BE) is projected to drop by 2-sections per grade level,
with the exception of Junior Kindergarten, making it primarily a 4-section
building. At this time, it is anticipated that Valley Springs Elementary will
maintain its current number of projected sections.
With
the reduction in regular classroom teachers at both RBE and BE, it is
anticipated that additional classroom teachers will be kept to a minimum at the
new school. However, there will need to be an increase in some co-curricular
staff, with travel being factored into the co-curricular’s schedules. Support
staff, including one educational assistant (with one educational assistant
being transferred from each BE and RBE) and a secretary will need to be added
at the new elementary building also.
Next
year will hopefully bring new insight into more accurate enrollment numbers as
building sites and current enrollment numbers are monitored. The process of
drawing new boundary lines to include the new school will also help
administration better predict the staff, curriculum and equipment needs of the
new elementary school.
The
needs listed below are rough estimates made on the presumptions stated above.
