Our health insurance is with South Dakota Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The District pays full employee premiums, and where applicable, ½ of the employee’s share of two-party or family coverage. The Group Number for Brandon Valley School District is 82001. Employee Share amounts are based on 12/months of payroll.
Effective date of your coverage is the first day of the month following your first day of employment. There is a $2,000/Single, $4,000/Family* deductible and a $25.00 office visit co-pay and a $250.00 (previously $150) emergency room co-pay. Services based on usual and customary charges. Out of pocket maximums are $4,000/Single, $8,000/Family*. These numbers are for the in-network charges only. Out of network deductibles and out of pocket maximums are substantially higher.

The School District will provide $25,000 of Term Life Insurance coverage (Accompanying Brochure Below) through Mutual of Omaha at no cost to you.
The School District will provide Long-term Disability Insurance coverage (Accompanying Brochure Below) through Mutual of Omaha at no cost to you.
You will be enrolled in the Term Life Insurance and Term Disability Insurance policies by my office upon completion of the Mutual of Omaha enrollment form AND the Mutual of Omaha beneficiary form, both of which are inlcuded in links below.
Additional voluntary group term life insurance coverage (Accompanying Brochure Below) is available on a one-time basis. This voluntary coverage is available to you on an optional basis; the district does not contribute to that premium cost.

Enrollment Form
This is mandatory for all employees who work more than 20 hours per week. We deduct 6% of your salary, which is matched by 6% from the district. You are fully vested after 3 years of employment.
You will be enrolled in the South Dakota Retirement System by my office. Once we have enrolled you on the SDRS employer portal, SDRS will be reaching out to you via email from the SD.gov Portal (ContactUs@sd.gov) with the subject line: Your SDRS profile must be completed. The email will contain your SDRS ID and instructions for setting up your online MySDRS account.
You will then be required to log in to your MySDRS account to complete your SDRS profile, including updating personal information, designating beneficiaries, and, if applicable, designating a custodian for minor children.
Once you have set up your username/password on this SDRS website, click on MySDRS and then click on Profile and Settings to update information such as address, beneficiaries, etc.
Any other SDRS questions can be asked via the SDRS website under your profile by clicking on Menu and then click on Contact SDRS or by telephone at 605-773-3731 or toll free at 1-888-605-7377.
The district pays the employee benefit to Delta Dental of South Dakota. Two-party (if there are only two of you in the family) and family coverage is available. The Group Number for the Brandon Valley School District is 2036. Employee Share amounts are based on 12/months of payroll.
Enrollment in dental insurance is permissible only upon employment; any changes can only be made on the anniversary date of the policy – July 1. In other words, if you do not choose family coverage now, you cannot enroll them until next July 1. If you do choose family coverage now, you cannot drop until next July 1.

Supplemental insurances coverages (Accident, Short-Term/Long-Term Disability, Hospital, Critical Illness, etc.) is available to you on an optional basis; the District does not contribute to the premium cost, however, the premiums are taken out on a pre-tax basis.
