Mary Roddel-Knetsch

Mary graduated in 2000 from Brandon Valley High School.

Starting varsity competition as a seventh grader, Mary earned varsity letters in four sports during her career. As the point guard on the Basketball team, she lettered four times while leading her team to two ESD Conference Championships and two State AA Tournament appearances. The Lynx finished third in her junior season. She was twice named to the All-Conference team and was All-Tournament as a junior.

On the links, Mary lettered three times. She was also a letter winner on the Volleyball team in her senior season and ran for the Lynx on the Track and Field team, where she also lettered.

Mary went on to a standout basketball career with Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall. She helped lead the team to two NSIC regular season titles, an NSIC Tournament title, and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament. Along the way, she was named All-Conference and All-Tournament. Mary set the career record for games started and was top three in four other career record categories. She finished as the school’s thirteenth-leading scorer and is part of the 1,000-point club.

Her favorite Lynx memory was being a part of the first Brandon Valley Girls Basketball team to qualify for the State Tournament in twenty years.
