Wade graduated in
1980 from Brandon Valley High School. On the football team, Wade was a three-year letter winner and helped the team to an undefeated season his senior year. The team won the Big 8 Conference title and was voted state champions by the coaches and media, as this was two years before SDHSAA playoffs were conducted. He was a two-time All-Conference selection and a member of the All-State team his senior year. On the basketball court, he was a two-year letter winner and was named to the All-Conference team as a senior. The team won the Big 8 Conference tournaments his senior season. As a three-year letter winner jump specialist on the Track and Field team, he was involved in all three disciplines - high jump, long jump and triple jump. In the high jump and long jump, he was a conference runner-up and State Meet place winner his senior season. As a triple jumper, he was a conference champion and qualified for the State Meet three times, where he placed his senior year. Wade went to South Dakota State University and played football all four years. He was a starter at Strong Safety for the last half of his junior season and all of his senior season. He was an Academic All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Conference selection after his senior season in the North Central Conference. His favorite Lynx memories include beating Rapid City Stevens in the last game of his senior year to clinch the state title over Sioux Falls Washington and all of his great teammates, coaches, and teachers. |
