Doug Novak

Doug graduated in 1985 from Brandon Valley High School.

Doug was a twelve-time varsity letter award winner at Brandon Valley in cross country, basketball, track and field, and tennis.

In the fall, in his eighth grade through senior years, Doug could be found as a leader on the Lynx cross country team.  He was an All-State performer during his sophomore campaign.

On the basketball court, Doug was a three-time letter winner and earned Hansen and Anderson All-State designation as a senior.

The spring season saw Doug compete in track and field and tennis during his high school years.  He won two letters as a track and field athlete, where he was Big 8 Conference and Region 2AA champion at 800 meters.  Doug’s greatest athletic success, while at Brandon Valley, was on the tennis court.  He was undefeated for two years during the regular season and finished as the state runner-up twice.  He helped the Lynx to a state runner-up team finish in his senior year – a best ever finish for Brandon Valley tennis.

Doug went on to the University of Tennessee and played tennis, where he was a member of the #1 ranked team in the nation in 1990.  He later was an assistant tennis coach at Clemson University and has been an assistant basketball coach and head basketball coach at the collegiate level.  Doug currently serves as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Bethel University in Minnesota.

His favorite Lynx memories include time spent with coaches, teachers, and teammates.
