Jon graduated in 1999 from Brandon Valley High School.
After moving to Brandon Valley High School before his junior year, Jon
became a very familiar name on the gridiron for the Lynx. He was a
standout linebacker and fullback for two seasons as he helped the Lynx
to continue their tradition of success. He led his teams to state
championship games both years. In 1997 the Lynx were the state
runner up after dropping a close game to Spearfish, but Jon led the Lynx
to the championship in 1998 by defeating Brookings in overtime. In
that game, Jon was named the Joe Robbie Most Outstanding Player after
scoring two touchdowns on offense and leading the defense in shutting
down Brookings. Jon was twice named to the All-Conference team, All-State team and was named to the Argus Leader Elite 45 team both years. As a senior, he was named the Elite 45 Captain and was also named the Gatorade South Dakota Player of the Year. After his career at Brandon Valley, Jon went on to have a distinguished career at Montana State University as a Defensive End. While with the Bobcats, he was twice a part of a conference championship team and was named All-Conference and All-American after his senior season. His favorite memories include beating O'Gorman in overtime in 1997 and beating Brookings in the state championship game in overtime in 1998. |
