Mike Meyers
As a three-sport standout, Mike earned a total of nine varsity letters - three in Cross Country, two in basketball and four in Track and Field.
As a leader on the Lynx Cross Country and Basketball Teams, Mike was a two-time Top-25 State Cross Country Meet finisher and finished his senior year of basketball with All Big Eight Conference and All-State honors.
As a middle-distance standout on the Track and Field team, Mike had great individual and relay team success. He held the 800-meter school record for 32 years and was a part of the Brandon Valley Medley school record team until it was broken in 2012. He was the Class AA State 800-meter Champion and established the State Meet Record during that run.
After graduating, Mike attended Augustana College, where he competed in Cross Country and Track and Field all four years. He was part of Augustana’s 4 x 400-meter All-American Team in 1985. Mike served his country in the Navy for 14 years and then in the South Dakota Air National Guard for 11 years.
Mike’s favorite Lynx memories are summed up in relationships - those good times that he had with his brother, Mark, and friends, and the great coaches that he had in Lyle Claussen and Lyle Pierson.
