Tate Metcalf

Tate graduated in 1986 from Brandon Valley High School.  Tate was a multiple letter winner on the football field and on the track.  His individual success helped lead his teams to championships in both sports.

As a defensive back, he set the school record for interceptions in a season when he picked seven opposing passes.  He was a part of the first Lynx football state championship team in 1984 and helped the Lynx repeat in 1985.

On the track, Tate set or was a part of four school records during his career.  Although three of those have been broken by 2012, his team's 4 X 400 mark of 3:24.75 has stood the test of time.  He was the 300 meter hurdle State Champion as a junior and runner up his senior season.  His 4 X 800 relay team was State runner up in his junior year and claimed the State Championship in his senior year.  Tate won the Howard Wood Dakota Relays Special Event in 1986.

After his high school career, he ran on scholarship at the University of Northern Colorado.  He continues to train and has been a nationally ranked age group runner from the 800 to 5,000 meters in his 30's and 40's.  He owns a health club and trains all ages including many decorated high school and collegiate track and field athletes.
