Richard graduated in 1964 from Brandon Valley High School. As a
ten-time letterman, Richard excelled on the football field, basketball
court, and track and field. He started his high school career at
Valley Springs High School and became a Lynx when Brandon Valley was
formed after his sophomore year. Richard is best remembered for this athletic accomplishments on the basketball team. He was a two-time All-Conference selection as a junior and senior and was named to the All-State team in his senior year. His 37 point game set a school record that has stood for almost 50 years. Along with this athletic talents, he was a leader among his peers. He was the 1963-1964 class president, Homecoming King and class co-Valedictorian. Richard went to Sioux Falls College and lettered all four years on the basketball team. Since his collegiate days, he has played on two World Championship Fast pitch Softball teams and has been a two time Masters Fast pitch All-American. |
