Austin Hansen

Austin graduated in 1998 from Brandon Valley High School.

On the basketball court, Austin was a three-year letter winner and led the Lynx to two straight state tournaments, with the team finishing third his junior year and winning Brandon Valley’s first State Basketball Championship his senior year.  He was a two-time All-Conference and first team All-State selection.  He was named South Dakota Player of the Year and Mr. Basketball after his senior season.

On the gridiron, Austin was also a three-year letter winner and helped the Lynx to state runner-up finishes in his sophomore and senior seasons.

Austin went on to an outstanding collegiate basketball career at SDSU, where he was a four year-letter winner.  As a multiple All-Conference and Academic All-Conference performer, he led his teams to a conference title and four regional tournament appearances.  He set the SDSU career three-point record and finished as the school’s third all-time leading scorer.

His favorite memory is winning three straight games in Rapid City over great opponents to earn BVHS its first State Basketball Championship.
