Joe Ford

Joe graduated in 1998 from Brandon Valley High School.

As a defensive back and kick returner on the football team, Joe was a three-year letter winner and helped the team play in two state championship games.  He was named All-Conference and All-State as a senior.  He recorded four touchdowns in his career - all on special teams or defense.

On the basketball court, Joe was a true team player.  In his junior year, he helped the team to an 18-5 record and a third place finish at the state tournament.  As a senior, he was named to the All-Conference team.  That year, the team was ranked #1 most of the season and finished the year with a 21-2 record and a state championship.

On the track, he was a premier hurdler, losing only three races during his final two seasons and setting numerous school and meet records along the way.  At the State Meets in his junior and senior seasons, he won both the 110 and 300 distance once and finished runner-up at each distance one.  Joe was the Eastern South Dakota Conference champion at both distances both years.  He also won the Howard Wood Dakota Relays 110 meter race twice and the 300 meter race one time.

Joe went on to play football at the University of Sioux Falls for one year and then to South Dakota State University for his final three years of eligibility.

His favorite Lynx memories include the 1998 State basketball championship, the 1997 football championship game and all state meet hurdle finals.
