Susan Eleeson

Susan graduated in 1977 from Brandon Valley High School.

As a standout two-sport athlete, Susan earned multiple varsity letters in basketball and track and field.

On the basketball court, Susan began playing as a sophomore in 1975, which was the first year for girls’ basketball in South Dakota.  (She could have played the year before – on the boys’ team – but declined the offer.)  She was a two-time All-Conference selection, named All-Tournament twice and All-State twice, once to the second team and once on the first team.  She led the Lady Lynx to a fourth place finish in the first ever Girls State Basketball Tournament.  Upon completion of her high school career, she held 12 of the 14 recognized school records.

As a runner, Susan performed on the high school Track and Field team for seven years.  Along with relay placing, she won the 440 yard dash as a freshman, after finishing second the year before.

After high school she went on to play basketball at Augustana College where she set - and still holds - points per game and points in a game scoring records.

One of her favorite memories is having John Egan, sportswriter for the Argus Leader, write that “Eleeson is one of the state’s most versatile female athletes.”
