Lloyd Costello

Lloyd started working as a custodian at Brandon Valley High School in 1978 and immediately became as loyal and supportive a Lynx fan as one can remember.  Many recognized Lloyd as the athletic facilities custodian for so many years.  However, he was known more for his attendance at virtually every home athletic event for well over 25 years.  His friendship with, and support of the coaches is remembered by those who worked in the gym.  He would often be seen congratulating a coach on a win or offering encouragement when times were tough.

His passion for his work area and the Lynx went hand-in-hand.  He would take breaks to watch athletic contests, both home and away, and then work into the early morning hours to complete his tasks.  A glaring example of this is the 1998 Boys State Basketball Tournament in Rapid City when the team played its way into the championship game.  Lloyd had watch the first two games on television, but had to be in attendance at the final game.  He drove out on Saturday, watched the win, congratulated the coaches, and then drove back to Brandon.  He drove back that night so he could personally take care of setting up the gym for the Sunday Welcome Home Celebration.
