John Brown

John graduated in 1970 from Brandon Valley High School.

While participating for the Lynx as a three-sport athlete, John earned a total of nine letters, three each in football, basketball and track and field.

As a shot put thrower, he placed second at the state meet in his junior year and was State Champion in his senior year with a throw of 58’10.5”.

As a fullback on the football field - where John had an extreme love of the game - he was known for his desire to run over everyone in his way.

He went on to Worthington Junior College and Northern State College to play football and throw the shot put.  He won a National Junior College Shot Put Championship while at Northern.  He was also two-time All-Conference selection as a fullback while at Northern.

John continues his avid support of Brandon Valley athletics by attending events during all seasons and has been a long-time volunteer on the “chain gang” at football games.
