Wayne Allen

Wayne was the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Brandon Valley High School from 1974 to 1986.

After coaching and teaching at Howard, Ethan and Centerville, Coach Allen came to Brandon Valley to continue his career.  He was an assistant coach in football and boys basketball and headed up the volleyball program for three years.

Wayne had an overall girls basketball record of 140-124 at Brandon Valley.  While at the helm, his teams won eight Big 8 Conference championships and six Big 8 Conference tournaments.  The Lynx won two District and three Section III A championships which led to three state tournament appearances.  Coach Allen had the privilege of coaching ten All-State players while leading the Lynx.

After retirement as a counselor, teach of driver's education and coach, Wayne stayed involved with athletics serving as a track and field starter and attending athletic events.  Wayne also stays active as a lifetime member of the S.D. Counselors Association and the S.D. Basketball Coaches Association which honored him with his twenty-five year coaching award.

Wayne's favorite memories include being able to coach all three of his daughters and watching some of his seven grandchildren become involved in Lynx athletics.
